Tres Hermanas Substation 34.5/220 KV
MRL Construcciones S.A.C.
Significant project data:
Area designed: Control building of 475m2 and 5,000m2 outdoor park
Level of BIM development: LOD 500
Client: Cobra Infraestructuras Internacional S.A. and Energía y Recursos Ambientales Internacional S.L. Tres Hermanas Joint Venture.
Purpose of BIM use:
In this project the ultimate aim of developing the BIM model was its use for submitting the as-built documentation to the client.
In the Project phase it was used for coordination between the different disciplines (architecture, structures and installation) and detection of interference between them.
In the Construction phase it was used for the detailed execution of the project, being the basis of the whole geometry of the project, as well as for the verification of interferences due to works modifications.
Likewise, during this phase the model was reinforced with all of the changes made and with all of the information relating to the materials and products with which the work was executed, allowing a complete traceability of each element of the work and with all the information necessary for the as-built (provider, delivery note, manufacturer, model, series number, operations manual, maintenance manual, subcontractor, supplier, provider contact telephone number).
Description of the success achieved:
Through the use of BIM much time was saved with regard to carrying out the whole project, but where there was a fundamental advancement was the time of submitting the as-built documentation to the client.
Normally the preparation of as-built documentation is a tedious process of compiling documentation, manuals, delivery notes and the modification of plans that can take up to one month after finishing the execution of the project.
The use of BIM makes it something extremely simple since all of the information required has been gradually incorporated into the model at the same time as the project was being executed.
